2022-2023 Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest

All 8th Graders (OLS and Religious Education students) are invited to participate in the 2022-2023 Knights of Columbus (K of C) Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest. This contest encourages today’s youth to be more connected to their community and their Catholic faith through creative writing. The local contest is being hosted by St. Francis Knights of Columbus Council #4401.

Student essays must be original compositions of 500-750 words that address the following topic:

How can young Catholics evangelize our faith to families and friends who have turned away from religion and encourage them to return to the Church and embrace the sacraments.

Deadline for submissions is December 22nd at 10:00pm.

“CHere on earth, it’s impossible to perform a more meritorious act than visiting Jesus often in the Eucharist. If you took all of the good works done by all of the humans who have ever lived in all of history and stacked them all up and multiplied them by a million, they wouldn’t equal the merit, the virtue, and the worth of one Mass. The Eucharistic sacrifice is Christ’s infinite merit, infinite value.” – St Teresa of Avila

Cash prizes of $150 (1st Place), $100 (2nd Place) and $50 (3rd Place) will be awarded.
