As part of our Council’s Faith-In-Action Community efforts this year, we have arranged to help Our Lady of Sorrows make more telephone “wellness” calls to Parishioners over the age of 75. These Parishioners may be especially vulnerable to the impacts of isolation associated with the pandemic. (These calls will be follow-ups to those made by the Parish earlier in the year to the same group.)
This is apart of the Knight of Columbus “Leave No Neighbor Behind” program. It’s a great opportunity for our Knights to show Christ-like charity and compassion and check up on our seniors.
Potential volunteers should know this will not be time-consuming, however, it’s a very rewarding experience that will make the day for a senior. The more volunteers the better. Each volunteer will be provided with a short list of folks to contact and a prepared script. Callers would simply ask how each person is doing during this difficult time, any urgent needs they may have (for example, food, medical supplies, etc.), have a friendly conversation and pray with them.
